Just Listen: Youth Hostel – It’s All In Your Head

Youth Hostel

Words: Gary Hughes

youth hostelIt’s All In Your Head is is two and a half minutes of smiley, summery sounds. Two and a half minutes of head-bobbing, happiness-inducing hearing. Too much, I know. Anyway, if unclear so far, I like this offering from the relatively new Liverpool four piece Youth Hostel.

A debatable line in loud shirts aside, I really like this lot. I’m predisposed to be fair….Liverpool band, jangly guitars, northern nasal delivery…..but still it’s a winner. I can hear a little bit of Michael Head in the way the song is constructed; the way it builds to its finish; the brass effect backing the chorus, the backing vocals too. Give it a go, it’ll put a smile on your face.
