Just Listen: The Night Cafe – The Way Of Mary

The Night Cafe

Words: Gary Lambert

The latest release, The Way Of Mary, shows off all that is good about The Night Café. In a strange way, this song reminds me of the Naïve-era version of The Kooks with the effortless way the band manage to put together a pop tune. It feels so natural that I cannot picture anybody sitting down to write this song, rather it appeared with all the natural peaks and troughs which grab you. But The Night Café’s real selling point is the bricks and mortar used to build their songs. The tightly strung twangs and waves of aural adventure are more associated with bands who eschew pop in order to expand the minds only. The Night Café are subversive in sound. Get listening!

Taken from their debut EP, Get Away, released 10th March 2017.
