Just Listen: Etches: Human Façade/ My New Empire

Etches

Words: Elena Katrina

Etches return with a fabulously chilled out double A-Side of Human Façade/ My New Empire here and what a treat they are. From the blissfully bubbling opening of Human Façade to the darker meanings behind the track. It’s a really cleverly penned lyrically and I feel like the band continue to grow and mature with this release.  The build up and dark guitar solo here also peaks my interest and give a pause to a really cool breakdown that heads toward the tracks impending demise. My New Empire on the other hand feels slightly lighter with it’s twinkling guitars, 60s groove, silky harmonies and hand claps,  but still touches on a serious lyrical content and presentation. A story told, over catchy sing-along nonsense, this is the nitty gritty that sits within it’s shimmering musical packaging. Loving this new work from Etches!
