Just Listen: Dantevilles – The Fighter

Dantevilles

Words: Gary Lambert

When a track is called The Fighter, there is a desperate urge for a reviewer to stick some awful puns about knockouts even when it isn’t deserved, but this track is an absolute banger.  There is more than a touch of 1980s Miami to the three and a half minutes of sunshine, but with a bit of restraint, Dantevilles have managed to be inspired by the time rather than to make a cheesy pastiche of it.  Don’t get me wrong, I can imagine there will have been some people wanting the track to be a dash brasher.  Yet the controlled nature makes it is a real gem that shows off one of the top up and comers on the music scene.
