Just Listen: Eliza Shaddad – White Lines

White Lines

Words: Rachel Allen

Processed with VSCO with a5 preset

Eliza Shaddad was, shamefully, a name I had not come across before, but once I heard the hauntingly beautiful vocals of this ‘Alternative Folk’ beauty I was hooked. Her new single, White Lines, taken from her upcoming album, Future, drew me in straight away; with its funky driving bass line and its catchy melodic sprinklings.  Her chorus line in different variations really catches hold in your head, both melodically and lyrically when she sings “I know if I hold brave and true, I can drive straight into the future.” Ironically, her lyricism talks of a journey into the unknown, to something better and all the instrumental screams of this travel adventure. You feel taken along in the song with her. This driving raw and honest vocal and musical expression leaves me wanting more. Bring on the new album!
