Just Listen: Laurel – Lovesick

Lovesick

Words: Samantha Sadler

London-based artist and producer LAUREL has released new single ‘Lovesick’ ahead of her debut album DOGVIOLET due out on 24th August. An exploration into the emotional complications of love, DOGVIOLET was written by Laurel locking herself “away for periods of time in order to capture the true mania that comes from love; although a beautiful feeling, it can often feel a lot uglier.”

On the new track, Lovesick Laurel’s powerful vocals are exposed from the beginning as a brooding soundscape lays out gentle percussions and velvety riffs. Retaining a pop vibe on a relaxed scale, Laurel navigates the listener through a romantic tale as she croons “you’d be a love song, baby I’m lovesick.”

Brooding and addictive, I’ve been hitting the replay on this since it landed in my inbox.
