Intro: Elena Katrina

Sam Fender, that name on the poster, every poster, everywhere, all of a sudden this young lad from Newcastle is making a very big name for himself. But it’s not as overnight as you might think. With still so few tracks available for our aural pleasure compared to the number of times we are racking up seeing him live, we thought that ahead of his set for Bushstock this month, that we’d let Sam have his own blog spot on our very own site.

“I’ve been touring like a mad bastard recently, we’ve done like 60 odd shows, loads of mad promo things, radio and plenty of recording in between. Haven’t been doing much writing but I’m excited to get back on it in the next couple of weeks, in our studio which we built in North Tyneside.

I’ll be preparing for Bushstock festival in the same way I prepare for all festivals – doing what I do, doing my job! Every other gig or festival we play up to Bushstock will be us, preparing for Bushstock. So Bushstock will hopefully be the greatest gig to date and the best show we’ve ever played, until the festival we play after that and that will proceed to be better – upwards trajectory always.

On the day I’ll go see Flyte, they’re amazing. I’ll also go see Billie Marten, we met her in Liverpool, she was really sound. And definitely Haus too, they’ve been really nice to us in the past.

Bushstock is amongst the first festivals we’re doing this summer so we’ve got more festivals afterwards, more tours and recording an album! All the classic standard things you’d expect from an up a coming band that haven’t released their first album!

My next release, ‘Leave Fast’ is coming out on the 14th June, so super soon. We shot the video ourselves and its really good. It’s the best video we’ve ever made, its mint. Goes to show, doesn’t matter who you are or what you got, as long as you’ve got spunk, you believe and you work hard you can get something together.
