Just Listen: Palace – Heaven Up There

Palace – Heaven Up There

Words: Elena Katrina

With sumptuous guitar swirls that gently wrap around you, Popped favourites, Palace return with new single Heaven Up There, and it does a frighteningly good job of doing the track title justice. The band have a very defined sound that is instantly recognisable, in no doubt partly down to singer Leo Wyndham’s distinctive vocal and style. I often wonder how he discovered he could sing this way, with such a high crystal clear range that seamlessly falls back down to incorporate a warmer rougher texture. I think this is just going to be one of those bands for me, perform to me the phone book and I will be content, though their intelligent lyrics also form a clear part of why I love them so. Looking forward to having Palace well and truly back in my life again. Welcome back!
