The Ninth Wave – A Wave Goodbye To The People Who Said I’d Win
Words: Daniel Burton
After breaking onto the scene with their debut single in July 2017, Reformation, Glasgow’s The Ninth Wave have been continuously turning heads and grabbing the industries attention ever since. With their post-punk sound and eye-catching style, it is easy to see how they have gained so much support from the likes of Radio 1 and NME and it is hard not to see them as the pinnacle at the forefront of new music coming out of Glasgow.
In their new single, A Wave Goodbye To The People Who Said I’d Win, the harmonies that co-vocalists Haydn and Mille provide, alongside dynamic and eclectic synths set the scene perfectly for the poignant yet pragmatic lyrics that it accompanies. The sound that they create is a breath of fresh air from the majority of other new music being produced, and this band could be the catalyst needed to bring back more post-punk sounds that have been absent in recent years.
Having supported the likes of Editors, Blaenevon & The Magic Gang and played at top festivals TRNSMT, Neverworld and Neighbourhoods Weekender this summer, there is great anticipation for their next EP, FLESCH, which is set to be released on November 9th.
