Just Listen: Calva Louise – Tug of War

Calva Louise – Tug Of War

Words: Rachel Allen

The gritty pop punk sound of Calva Louise jumped out at me when I heard their new single ‘Tug Of War’ off their debut album ‘Rhinoceros.’

The trio have really been making waves in the punk scene in the last 18 months and the new single tells us why. The power struggle in a relationship spoken of through sharp, short chord changes and the distortion of the guitars mixed with the clashing symbols and sassy vocal really represent the lyrical content effectively.

Paired with the single is a new video which is as entertaining as it’s counterpart, in which 2 competitors fight for success over challenges. If success be the competition, I think the band may have won this tug of war..
