Just Listen: FEHM – Blue Hour (Nothing Lasts Forever)

FEHM – Blue Hour (Nothing Lasts Forever)

Words: Sammy Sadler

I’ve pretty much been in love with FEHM since I first heard them last year and I actually put them in my ‘Ones to Watch in 2019‘ picks at the start of January. I think it’s their similarities to Joy Division and New Order that really drew me in at the start – it’s right up my street and we desperately need a decent, modern day brooding rock band with soaring synths and echoed vocals.

‘Blue Hour (Nothing Lasts Forever)’ is a fantastic return for the Leeds outfit with its classic electro synths transporting you to the 80s and Paul Riddle’s deep vocals complimenting everything perfectly. A perfect piece of post-punk that would make a cracking soundtrack to a film in my opinion, this marks a good start to 2019 for the band.

Speaking on the track, Riddle says “The blue hour is the transitional period between day and night, or light and dark if you will. This represents the overall metaphor within the song. The song is about someone being split in half, just like the blue hour, eventually falling deeper into darkness. Nothing lasts forever.”

Give ‘Blue Hour’ a listen and try to catch them at one of their live shows which are magical. You won’t regret it.
