Just Listen: The Amazons – Doubt It

Just Listen: The Amazons – Doubt It

Words by Gary Lambert

Following on from the step up that was Mother, The Amazons have done it again with a slice of anthemic grunge which seems to have been cut straight out of the Reading Festival main stage.

If you have neighbours, I would suggest you do not play this track at home unless you know next door are out at work, as you are going to want to play it louder. With a pneumatic, punching bassline underpinning some flamboyant but not indulgent guitar play, Doubt It gets to your stomach and grits your teeth like it is sending you into the mosh pit by conscription rather than choice.

As you would expect from The Amazons, Matt’s vocals are the perfect mix of rare beauty and terrifying power like an aural version of the famous photo from Bikini Atoll in 1946.

Nuclear weapons brought devastation, The Amazons are just going to bring crowds. Roll on Future Dust!
