Just Listen: The Brookes – Spaceship Rodeo

The Brookes – Spaceship Rodeo

Words: Sammy Sadler

You know when you hear a song for the first time and you instantly fall in love with it? It’s a cracking feeling isn’t it? Well, that’s exactly what happened when I first heard the new one from The Brookes so get ready for just under four minutes of pure gold to caress your eardrums.

Anyone who reads my reviews should know by now that I’m a total sucker for proper indie guitar music and for me, Spaceship Rodeo is ticking all the right boxes. Aside from just having a cracking name, Spaceship Rodeo offers up a glittering explosion of indie-pop to complement throaty vocals from Bonge Keal and it sounds so good. Soaring basslines with jagged edges pierce through sunny melodies to create foot-stomping soundscapes that are impossible not to dance to and remind me of the likes of Palma Violets.

An ideal summer tune in my opinion, you’ve got short bursts of dramatic bridges to introduce a catchy chorus and the right amount of British indie rock and roll influence that makes the whole thing sound like it needs to be played on the main stages this festival season.

More of this please lads!
