Just Listen: Saytr Play – Honest Man

Saytr Play – Honest Man

Words by Gary Lambert

img_2037I love Manchester’s Saytr Play from the power, fun, and compassion their live show produces, and I’m absolutely buzzing to say that new single, Honest Man, captures all of this and more in its three minutes forty seconds. From the opening ARGHH! shouted by the band in the most happy and musical way possible, Honest Man had me wrapped in its arms and looking forward to playing it again as soon as it had finished. It is a tuneful romp that allows the band to show off all their skills. You have wonderful vocals (at one stage accompanied solely by drums), effervescent guitar play, and a rhythm section that makes you ready to stomp your feet and shake your ass. It all reminds me of eponymous album era Supergrass.
