Just Listen: Pale Honey – Set Me Free

Pale Honey –  Set Me Free

Words: Clare Hingley

Even the first note in this song makes you think you’ve gone back in time to the 1980s and dancing along to the likes of Walk Like An Egyptian by Bananrama.

Gothenburg duo Nelly Daltrey and Tuva Lodmark make up Pale Honey. These ladies have released their latest single Set Me Free from their second album Devotion. The happy beats and dance-like melodies throw you off the fact it is a song about a breakup. But you could be forgiven for not realising the bitter elements rippled through as they have cleverly mixed disco drums.

Lodmark’s dreamy voice takes you on a journey, but the powerful chorus brings you back to reality and you are hit by funky explodes of guitar riffs and the realisation that this is someone trying to get over a broken heart.
