Love Fame Tragedy – Please Don’t Murder Me (Part 2)

Words: Sammy Sadler

I’m not exaggerating when I say that I feel like I’ve been a fan of The Wombats forever. They were the first band I had an A1 poster of on my wall and the first band I rushed to every tour date for. I’ve been a fangirl since the release of the Liverpool trio’s first album back in 2007 and I still get giddy at the mention of new music.

With that in mind, I was dubious when I heard about Murph’s solo project. Despite him being my fave, I was worried that The Wombats would be forgotten. However I’m here to tell you that his latest work as Love Fame Tragedy is a bloody masterpiece.

Latest single Please Don’t Murder Me (Part 2) is no exception. Throughout the track, Murph’s distinct vocals are practically laid bare aside from the accompanying delicate guitar plucks from Crystal Fighters’ Eleanor Fletcher.

At a minimal 1min 22sec, it’s short and sweet but Murph’s emotive lyrics and pleading against the mesmerising backdrop is enough to get you hitting repeat.
