YONAKA- Ordinary

Words: Sammy Sadler

Well, well, well, it’s been a little while since I’ve written a single review and what a track to come back to.

Here at Popped we’ve had our eyes on YONAKA for what feels like ages and their new track Ordinary demonstrates that we’ve been fans for the right reason.

The Brighton rockers have wowed on festival circuits in the past and I’m certain their latest work is going to ramp that right up.

Fronted by Theresa Jarvis, Ordinary brings out an almost No Doubt meets Paramore vibe as Jarvis pelts out powerful vocals combined with sweeter notes and an anthemic chant, before exploding into the dark rock that we’ve come to love from YONAKA.

A catchy, gritty, alt-pop track that warrants the volume turned up loud and it’s going to sound epic live.

Also make sure to catch Seize The Power which was the band’s release before Ordinary – it’s equally as huge as this one. I can feel an exciting 2021 for YONAKA and I’ll be starting the mosh pits when we’re allowed back out.
