JUST LISTEN: STUPID – STONE
STONE
STUPID
Words by Amy Butcher
Liverpool based band STONE have only recently come up on my radar, but boy have they made an impact with their latest single ‘Stupid’. That is one thing this track is actually not, it brings a clever mix of nostalgia and newness into a modern fresh sound.
Gritty, gutsy and infectious, it’s one of those songs you just crave to see live and can just feel the power, skill and passion. With vocals similar to Liam Gallagher, an explosion of paint in the music video (did someone say Stone Roses?), and distorted jangly guitar riffs; it’s a familiar, comforting track that transports me to the 90s. This indie-rock four-piece knows what they’re about, the confidence oozes throughout each element of the track – it’s just a banger, honestly.
