Just Listen: Ovvls – Pain Is Beauty

Ovvls

ovvlsThe debut single, Pain Is Beauty,  from new duo Ovvls is quite frankly a masterpiece of Gothic proportions. It creates such imagery in my mind – tall skeletal figures creeping jauntily around in the shadows before finally making a run for it across a moonlit hill before meeting their untimely demise. It’s a track that allows vocalist Stephanie to push her stunning high notes as much as her hushed tones. The track also features a darkness that is brought to us with the use of an organ. This use in which I’m sure renowned Gothic film composer Danny Elfman, would be proud of.

Pain Is Beauty is out on February 1st with the debut Ovvls live show on January 29th at Liverpool’s Nordic Church.
