Superfood
Words: Lewis Rogers
As a big fan of Superfood’s 2014 debut LP Don’t Say That, I’ve been holding out for new music from them for what seems like forever. After their social media accounts were mysteriously cleared out late last year, things weren’t looking good so it was a fantastic start to the week when Superfood re-emerged with their ace new track Double Dutch, alongside promise of a second album and their new signing to Dirty Hit records.
Now a two-piece, the new look Superfood have kept elements of the band’s old sound, the jangly guitar hooks and catchy chorus are still intact, but their newfound creative freedom is obvious. Double Dutch mixes in sampling and synths, resulting in a more polished and much smoother sound than on their older tunes. This new direction is definitely intriguing, and judging by this new song album number two is looking to be a very exciting and ambitious record.
