Immortal Kombat
Released 19th May 2017

Eat Fast have been a productive bunch lately. Having released two sizzling singles in the form of Public Display of Affection and Sand Drone, they’ve just released their second E.P. Immortal Kombat featuring five new tracks along with recent single Scrambled Egg.
Opening with the short instrumental One Life Left (pt 2), the A-side of the physical release is comprised of the title track and Scrambled Egg, a pairing which seems appropriate. Similar to each other but revealing a different side to the band compared to their previous output (and the rest of the EP), they are built around melodic choruses with 60’s tinged vocals before hitting explosive choruses. Scrambled Egg in particular highlights the shift in the band’s sound, blending power, harmonies and melody to create arguably their finest song to date.
On the flip side are Flummox and Luck Pusher, two tracks which could be described as more typical of Eat Fast. Bursting with energy, scuzzy guitars and distorted vocals, they up the tempo from the previous couple of tracks, before proceedings come to a close on the (relatively) gentle, ponderous Alone In The Sun which rounds off the E.P in perfect fashion.
A heady blend of fuzz, melody and attitude, Immortal Kombat is a fine E.P, showcasing a band who look set to be one of the most exciting new acts on the festival circuit this year.
