Just Listen: Pleasure House – Mind Control

Pleasure House

Words: Leander Hobbs

If the recent global political climate has got you wondering whether Jack Nicholson was right in A Few Good Men then you aren’t the only one.  Pleasure House’s new single Mind Control attempts to take on the establishment albeit with a song that is a bit more lemonade than gunpowder.

Mind Control is a pretty decent indie tune – all drum beats and guitar licks with a few vocal hooks thrown in to keep it bouncing along. And whilst it is a little bit too polished to join the ranks of true dis-establishmentarianism it nevertheless has a damn important message – in the words of frontman Alex Heffernan “register to vote, save the NHS and don’t let the TV dictate your decisions!”  Mind Control is taken from Pleasure House’s recent EP, Sentient, which came out 26th May.
