Jagged Skies – Judas
Words by Gary Lambert
Judas is the debut release of The Jagged Skies, and for an opening salvo carries some weight. It is obvious from first listen that this is a track which has been thought over long and hard, and rehearsed until the sound was right. Obviously the writers of the track have a certain level of inspiration from Oasis, and in particular, Noel Gallagher as the guitar licks are reminiscent of the early days of the band for sure. I love too how this track has been designed to start off quite simply with a baseline and occasional drumbeat to push along the soft vocal before rising up and hitting the chorus strong, but not so vividly that it puts it out of kilter with the rest of the track. This ebb and flow works well to suck the listener in from the start. It feels a very mature piece of songcrafting early in the life of The Jagged Skies, so I hope they remember to have fun with their music too.
Have a listen to Judas by The Jagged Skies
