Just Listen: Life At The Arcade – Tabloids

Life at the Arcade – Tabloids

Words by Gary Lambert

Life at the Arcade have been making steady headway for a while now on the live scene across the country. Their latest release, Tabloids, captures their live sound perfectly as they mix anthemic songwriting with a very accessible, accessible guitar sound. Despite being Liverpool lads, there are none of the traditional scouse songcraft traits within the three and a half minutes. It is the type of indie rock which you could expect to come from anywhere in the country as there is expansive smoothness throughout. In fact, the sweet nature of the track’s makeup could make you think that the subject matter was a love song or a rousing explanation of how life is beautiful rather than the distrustful relationship between the tabloid press and, well, humans.
