Charity Shop Pop – Dreaming (It’s A Nightmare)

Words: Chloe Hyde

Upbeat, catchy, hopeful yet melancholic really are the words to describe Charity Shop Pop’s newest single Dreaming (It’s A Nightmare).

It’s impossible to ignore the dance-inducing riffs, constantly contrasted with lyrics of post-breakup angst and heartbreak.

The very relatability of this track is what makes it so easy to listen to- it’s not uncommon to feel like everything is falling to pieces, and you’d rather spend your in dreamland rather than facing the music itself. However, this is not your typical slow and sorrowful tune, it is still pulsating with emotion and longing.

Charity Shop Pop unapologetically exhibits the human experience of feeling alone and three bouncy minutes allow for a release, sharing a painful experience whilst simultaneously transforming the sadness into an unforgettable feeling of freedom and elation.
