Stereo Honey – You Are A Monster

Oh, Stereo Honey you make my ears so damn happy. You Are A Monster‘s opening moments are like something you’d hear in the ominous score of a thriller movie. It sets the scene perfectly for this tensely phrased track.
It’s not long until we’re thrown into the chase with the thunderous pounding of the drums that punctuate this track with a furiously uneasy heartbeat. It’s so dominant that you can’t escape. I feel like I have a physical reaction to this track as my heart tries to regulate to the drumbeat. It’s a strangely unnerving feeling but I love having a physical reaction to music.
There are dark and menacing pockets of sound throughout that set me on edge. It’s not just the drums. It’s the sharp intake of breath trapped within the swirls of guitar, the spaces set between the attack. The vocals soar and fly in and around the brooding soundscape below like the victim that’s trying to flee. All in all, it’s just yet another beautifully crafted track.
