Just Listen: Talkboy – Hollow Spheres

Talkboy – Hollow Spheres

Words: Nick Bewes

Hollow Spheres is the third track that I’ve reviewed this year by Leeds band Talkboy and each track, Someone Else For You in February and Wasting Time in April, have shown what a great band they are by offering something different each time.

Unlike the previous tracks, Hollow Spheres starts off slowly, with a feel to my ears of the 1990s band Gene, before exploding with a powerful yet melodic midsection. The thing that makes the band stand out from the crowd of shouty indie bands these days is that their material is powerful but with plenty of melody and well produced.

All three tracks can be found on their new Over & Under EP, along with three other great tunes, which is out on Come Play With Me / LAB.
