Just Listen: Tom Grennan – This Is The Place

This is the Place

Words by Gary Lambert

It took The Hollies just one look, but for me it was five seconds.  Five seconds of Tom Grennan‘s vocal and I had to stop what I was doing and message my Popped-boss to reiterate a point she already knew.  This is the Place needs to be listened to urgently.

The first scene of the second act of Tom Grennan’s musical career takes everything that made Lighting Matches era Tom so exciting.  Firstly there is the forty Marlboro rasp which would make reading shampoo ingredients vital.  In addition, the lyrics come in the form of everyman understanding, “this is the place that I come to forget you, these are the nights that I drink to regret you“, creating that buzz of connection.  And now the sound is bigger and bolder than ever.  It is fantastic!

Just go to the Spotify link below and hit play.  NOW.
