JUST LISTEN: VALA – Say You Want It (That Way)

VALA – Say You Want It (That Way)

Words: Amy Butcher

Manchester-based trio VALA continue to impress me with their addictive indie pop sound, and Say You Want It (That Way) is no exception.

Now if you’re thinking this track is anything like Backstreet Boys’ I Want It That Way, you are very much mistaken. Filled with Beatle-esque harmonies, soft drum patterns, jangly guitar riffs and singer Joe’s soulful vocals; it’s fantastic start to finish.

This song has a clear 60s influence, yet there is something fresh and modern about it too. I don’t know whether it’s the clever subtle sounds I notice when I take another listen or the upbeat cheery mood the single puts me in – all I know it’s a full on corker of a track and something you need to get your ears around.
