When I read in advance of listening to a tune that the solo artist performing has written the song, performed all of the music, produced and mixed the record I expect the sound that subsequently follows to be positively lo-fi.  I do not expect Rory Wynne’s Roses.

If I hadn’t followed the career of Rory from his early days, I’d be convinced that Roses was the first foray into the British market of an overseas talent such is the quality that pervades throughout.  The track is bombastic, confident, and has such wonderful production that it feels like anything but a solo project.

Roses is a song that can make you soar, and make walking down an A road in the morning sunshine feel like the apex of a crescendo of a story rather than just a few minutes of an ordinary day.
