Just Listen: LibraLibra – Lonely Girl
LibraLibra
Lonely Girl
Words by Gary Lambert
Lonely Girl, the latest banger from Brighton’s LibraLibra, is an exciting, intoxicating cocktail of rock and dance that will set you on edge like glugging Red Bull before riding a rollercoaster.
A dark tale of the excitement and dangers of a world where you’re sold on the love of your life being a swipe away whilst others prepare to catfish and intimidate and ruin your plans contrasts with the uplifting kinetic power of the track. This is a song for packed basement clubs filled with humid hedonism. The highpoint of the track for me is an incredible crescendo and drop as the computerised voice exclaims I’m alone, I’m alone, I’m alone before freewheeling into a thrashing wall of rock n roll. The half-second blink of silence between these two elements as the rollercoaster is going neither up nor down enhances the intensity beautifully.
I want you to listen to this track and love it like I do. In fact, I want everybody to love it like I do. If you like it, please tell your friends. I’m bored of The Killers and Arctic Monkeys at indie discos, I want LibraLibra to fill the floor instead.
